Overview of the Basic Kituba CourseThe Kituba Course is divided into 35 units, many of which are composed of dialogues, notes, and supplemental vocabulary. The course assumes the student has no prior knowledge of Kituba and is fully self-instructional. This means that while an instructor/native speaker would be helpful, it is not imperative to learn Kituba with this course. An Informal Language Lesson Unit 33: A Health Lesson from the Radio Unit 34: Some French Borrowings Unit 35: Some Health Rules Kituba, also known as Kikongo ya Leta and Munukutuba, is a vehicular or trade language spoken along the lower reaches of the Congo and its tributaries. The Kituba Basic Course consists of a "primer" in the language and five subject-oriented groups of lessons. The primer is intended to introduce the major grammatical structures of the language, to develop in the student an adequate pronunciation, and to present a certain amount of useful vocabulary for a variety of situations. The subject-oriented lessons build on the vocabulary and grammar presented in the primer. Each unit in the primer consist of a short dialogue, variation drills, a vocabulary supplement, grammar notes, and grammar drills.
